Meet Peter Gibson, PsyD.

Owner

Originally from Wisconsin, Dr. Gibson made his way to a suburb of Chicago to study Bible and Theology at Wheaton College. Following that, he felt a sense of calling to mental health care, leading him to obtain his master’s in counseling at Dallas Theological Seminary. Through mentorship by excellent professors, he found a passion for Christian integrative psychology. This brought him back to Wheaton to pursue a PsyD. While at Wheaton a second time, Dr. Gibson had the opportunity to be a PCMHI extern at Jesse Brown, VA in Chicago, IL. He found health psychology especially enjoyable due to his experience as a student-athlete in his undergraduate career.

This passion was solidified as an intern at the VA Eastern Kansas Health Care System and he eagerly accepted the offer to continue his PCMHI career with VAEKHCS. Dr. Gibson enjoys his role as the first line of psychological care to many veterans through warm handoffs. He especially appreciates acknowledging the dignity in each person he interacts with, and consistently uses person-centered and ACT techniques to align people’s values to their lives.

Through his training, Dr. Gibson specializes in care for depression, anxiety, PTSD, adjustment concerns, relational conflict, grief, addiction, chronic pain, and sleep difficulties. While continuing to work within a VA medical center, Dr. Gibson’s primary goal within the private sector is to help individuals and couples find direction, purpose, and transformation through Christian integrative psychotherapy. He finds it a privilege to live out his faith through offering his services to Christ and His church. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, exercising, and enjoying the arts and sporting events.
